Research into the music industry

\

I created a documentary explaining my research into how festivals present current and old artists, and how this had an impact on an audience.

To highlight the points I found:
  • V fest constructed each artist individually, as they each have different conventions and produce music of different genres. E.g Jess Glynne had a glittery stage, while George Ezra had a more acoustic set.
  • This reflects their Star Images, as they have been constructed around their particular theme. The whole set and showcase revolves around this star image. V Fest constructs these conventions to appeal to audiences. E.g Calvin Harris had a big DJ set on stage instead of just himself with a normal mixer.
  • V fest gathers different acts that appeals to a target audience of 16-25. They promote and construct the artists to use as a Unique Selling Point. E.g. Calvin Harris promoted as headliner to generate sales, whilst Scouting for Girls attracts fans because they grew up listening to them.
  • The audience reacted positively to each artist, signing along, knowing the lyrics, recording the event, dancing, jumping, cheering etc.
