Reflection and Improved Idea 2

After receiving feedback for Conrad, i reflected and made changes to the idea.

First of all, I believe that setting a bonfire or a smaller fire would be possible during the winter, and can be very easily controlled. We can have fire extinguishers at the ready. However, the location of the woods may be too dangerous to start a bonfire, and it would have to be a clear open space. I think the viewpoint (holmbury hill) would look aesthetically pleasing at night, having the bonfire and the campers with the wide view of the surrey hills and London lights in the background. This location is also incredibly easy and accessible to shoot on.

Reflecting upon shooting in London, Guildford would be a more convenient spot but I fear that it would not have the same visual effect.

Furthermore, Brighton may also be a possibility as it is closer than London, and has the Lanes and the pier that would create the visually urban effect.

To match the camping with the urban settings, we could merge the two time lapses together for some parts of the song.

Particularly at the beginning of the song, the camera could pan from the singer on the stool up to the single light, which could graphic match to the stars or the moon of the camping.
graphic match

To realistically try and fit it all in one day - the performance of the singer would take place in the studio, in which only two or three shots would be needed. This would only take around an hour to do, as we only need a black background, a stool, a guitar and a single light. The remaining time of the day could be dedicated to Guildford/Brighton, where we could perhaps shoot in the day.

I agree with the idea of following three lives is too confusing and perhaps too much for three minutes. However, I think that if it were only two people, the narrative may turn into a romantic saga and I like the concept of it as being a friendship. Therefore, unless it were to be just two friends, I would focus on one friend and during the reunion the friend would be joined by the other two simultaneously.

I think shooting the urban setting during the day would be a nice contrast between the day and night of the two settings, to add some light and emphasise the different elements in the video. However, I’m not sure whether this would affect the time lapse and how they would match together. This would be something I would discuss with my group if I were to continue with this idea.

song - i have divided the songs into sections so it is easier for me to see where I can shorten the song.

00:25 - when the drums come in
00:46 - when the singing comes in
1:00 - curd of the world before little instrumental
1:11 - we’re alone, just like you said
1:24 - cold cold world before little instrumental
1:35 - flying flags, only one thing left…
1:47 - last year to learn
1:59 - little guitar solo bridge before chorus
2:10 - chorus
2:34 - but it all goes back…. mmmmm
2:45 - second mmm
3:00 - climb out
2:26 - we’re alone just like you said
3:38 - last year to learn
3:48 - chorus with bridge in background
4:11 - first mmm
4:23 - chorus again
4:47 - second mmm
5:11 - ending beat
5:35 - fading out starts
possible fade out to cut time?
