Research into Storyboards: What is a storyboard?

A storyboard is a graphic representation of the layout of a video, shown as individual shots. The design is a number of squares with different illustrations of how the video will look. It is, in summary, looking at the mise-en-scene of each scene.

Storyboards are a crucial step into making an effective music video. It acts as a visual aid to illustrate what the video will look like as a final product.  It is like a script for the music video, so that everyone receives and understands the same vision and idea in their head. You can see exactly how the video is going to unfold.

Storyboards also set up a plan for production, saving valuable time and makes the process smoother on the shoot day. This is because it shows all the shots that you need and the order that they'll be laid out. It provides a coverage of all the angles you will need to shoot of a scene, making sure that you won't forget any scenes and helps you piece together the video.
